Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport has been closed and a cargo embargo imposed. Takeoffs were suspended on Tuesday when anti-government protestors invaded the airport. The airport has now been closed, and will remain closed until further notice.

Also until further notice, a worldwide embargo on all BKK-freight has been imposed.

The situation continues to be fluid, so await more concrete information as regards the situation being resolved and airports being allowed to accept in and outgoing flights.

Anti-government protesters have effectively crippled Thailand's main airports.

While anti-government protestors have cordoned off the Suvarnabhumi International Airport and blocked access roads, AFP reports that another 2,500 activists have occupied Don Mueang airport, forcing it to close.

Late yesterday, the government declared a state of emergency at the Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in Bangkok.

According to a TNA news report, the airport closures will cost Thailand's air cargo industry around US$28 million a day.
